Tails & Tales

Join us and participate in one of the many Summer Reading Programs we have available! Our theme is Tails & Tales, so many of our programs will involve furry friends!  We have programs planned for people of all ages, find more information below regarding your age group and register for any events you may be interested in!

In-Person Summer Reading Programs


Children's Summer Reading Program

Ages 0-12

June 30- August 11

Our in-person summer reading program for kids features a number of fun and exciting events and programs! Check out our event calendar using the link below to register for the events that you wish to attend, and for more information on each program.

Reading and Riding

Ages 5-12

 

Do you love reading? Do you love horses? This is the perfect program for you! Each child will be given a barn stamp book to keep track of their reading progress, and for every book they check out from the library they will receive a raffle ticket. At the end of the summer we will draw the winners, who will receive a free 30-minute riding lesson at Whip-o-Will Stables in Dudley, MA. Click here to register!


Adult Summer Reading Program

Ages 13+

Come into the library and join us for our 2021 Adult/Teen Summer Reading Program!

Earn 1 ticket for each time you borrow reading materials (books, audiobooks,
magazines) (max 1 ticket/day).

Earn 1 ticket for each time you attend a library event (max 1 ticket/day).

➢ Uncover a shark and choose a $5 gift card from a local business.
➢ Uncover a raffle ticket and get entered for a chance to win fun and exciting

Online Summer Reading Programs


Global Baby Barnyard

Ages 0-5

We'll tour barnyards around the world and meet some of the animals found there! Lots of fun activities to complete, too! By logging the time spent reading (shared or independent, books, ebooks, audiobooks all count) and by completing the activities, children will earn virtual badges and tickets toward a chance to win a real prize.

Around the World in 80 Hours

Ages 6-12

Around the World in 80 hours! Readers ages 6 to 12 years will navigate the globe in search of some of the world's most endangered species. During their quest, participants will learn about the species, their habitat, and how to work toward saving them.  You are never too young to make a difference!  Extinction is forever. 

By logging the time spent reading (shared or independent, books, ebooks, audiobooks all count) and by completing the activities, participants will earn badges and tickets toward a chance to win a prize.

Teen Summer Reading Challenge

Ages 13-18

Go on a time travel tour to visit extinct animals around the world! Work your way through our Beanstack challenges each week to learn about extinct animals, and earn raffle tickets along the way!
